Katie MOrgan - executive director
Katie is a graduate of the University of Virginia (Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies) and the College of William & Mary (Master of Education in School Counseling). She spent 6 years in Newport News Public Schools as a middle school counselor and also assumed other leadership roles as the Site Director for the Governor's Youth Development Academy (2013-2014), founder and sponsor of the Dozier Middle School and Denbigh High School chapters of the Youth Volunteer Corps, and co-creator of the NNPS Virtual Mentoring Program. In 2016, Katie was recognized as the 2016-2017 NNPS Teacher of the Year and Middle School Teacher of the Year. Her passion for service and her love for students drew her to a new career path as the Executive Director of the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads where she plans to continue making positive connections with young people and their families, as well as with educators and community members.
Alicia Lightell - Program Director
Alicia has over 10 years’ experience working in human services, education, youth development and outreach through various capacities. Her work has included, but not limited to, parenting education, counseling at risk youth and families, workplace and career readiness, collaborating with community partners and facilitating team building activities. Alicia specializes in providing supportive services to military children and families in the public school setting and building collaborative relationships with military affiliates. In 2012, Alicia played an integral role in the collaboration of Second Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden and Admiral Winnefeld’s visit to an elementary school in Newport News, VA. The following year, she organized a trip to Washington D.C. where students and staff attended the Kid’s Inaugural Concert and supported their fellow classmate in introducing Dr. Jill Biden. Alicia has a passion for service, especially for our youth and community.

I am a senior at Christopher Newport University majoring in Political Science. My hobbies are playing rugby and watching movies and I volunteer because I love to connect with others and learn more about the population that I serve.

I am a senior at Christopher Newport University majoring in Finance minoring in Leadership Philosophy and religious studies. My hobbies are exercising and being outdoors. I volunteer because I enjoy being a mentor and helping kids grow their passion for service.

I am a senior at Christopher Newport University majoring in Accounting and Finance. My hobbies include playing sports and rocking out on the guitar from time to time. I volunteer because I love being given the opportunity to make a difference, big or small, in peoples' lives.

jENNY jUNG - TEAM LEADER
I am a junior at Christopher Newport University majoring in Cellular, Molecular, and Physiological Biology. My hobbies are golfing and painting. I volunteer because I want impact the community with meaningful service and build relationships with the members of the community.

Alana Allbritton - team leader
I am a sophomore at Christopher Newport University majoring in Computer Science with a Minor in Information Science. My hobbies include writing, reading, and upcycling. I volunteer with YVCHR because I believe its important to teach youth how to build the future they want with their own hands.

Avery Naperala - team leader
I am a freshman at Christopher Newport University majoring in Environmental Biology, and my hobbies include watching movies and going on adventures. I volunteer because I love making people smile and getting to know the people in the community through my service.
Fun Fact! I have two cats, and one of them is named Toothless because she actually has no teeth.

I am a freshman at Christopher Newport University majoring in Business Management. My hobbies are hiking and hanging out with friends. I volunteer because I want to be able to make a positive impact as well as learn more about the members within the community I serve.
