Attire

Q: What is the attire for the Seaside Celebration?

A: Cocktail attire. NOT formal.

NOTE: a dark suit worn with a tie (a navy or charcoal grey suit is best) for men, and a shorter (not formal length) party-ready dress for women, such as a little black dress or even dressy separates like a skirt and blouse


Guests

Q: Is this event for youth or for adults?

A: The Seaside Celebration Gala provides an opportunity for the adults in our community to recognize and celebrate the impact made by youth when they are empowered through service. While the event is geared toward an adult audience, youth in middle and high school are welcome to attend with their parents. Our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) members will be there to represent the hundreds of active youth volunteers in our program and to facilitate a sampling of mini hands-on service projects for our guests. Other youth volunteers will be recognized for achieving milestone awards in the 2018-2019 program year.


Tickets

Q: Are tickets available at the door?

A: No, we must provide a headcount to our caterers prior to the event, so all tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available online or can be purchased in-person at the YVCHR office (please call the office at 757-223-7078 to ensure availability).


Drinks

Q: Will there be adult beverages?

A: Yes, each adult guest (age 21+) will have one drink ticket to use at the bar (cash bar thereafter). Please present valid I.D. and enjoy beverages responsibly.

Soda, tea and water are complimentary.


Payment

Q: What methods of payment are available (for silent auction items, etc.)?

A: YVCHR will have the ability to run credit cards, but we also accept cash and check payments for easier checkout.


ATM

Q: Is there an ATM on-site?

A: Yes, there is an ATM just outside the ballroom.


Food

Q: Are there non-seafood options available?

A: Yes, food will be served buffet style (heavy hors d'oeuvres) with options for those who do not prefer seafood.


Parking

Q: Where should I park?

A: Paradise Ocean Club has ample parking in the lot adjacent to the building. We will not be able to provide VIP services, but there is a circular driveway that will allow your party to be dropped off at the front door prior to the driver securing a parking spot.


Setting

Q: Is the event indoors?

A: While the gala is concentrated in the ballroom, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the deck that runs parallel to the beach outside.


Restaurant Board

Q:  How does the Restaurant Board work?

A: Guest can purchase an envelope from the Restaurant Board for $25. Each envelope contains a gift card to a restaurant that is valued at $25 …or more!


Heads or Tails

Q: How does the Heads or Tails dance work?

A: Guests can purchase a light-up ring for $10. Toward the end of the event, all guests with light-up rings will be invited out to the dance floor for an elimination game. Each time the music stops, guests will put their hands on their heads or their “tails” and a coin toss will determine who stays on the dance floor…until only one person remains. The winner gets $100!
