In 2016, Katie was recognized as the 2016-2017 Division-Wide Teacher of the Year and Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Her passion for service and her love for students has drawn her to her current role as the Executive Director of the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads where she has continued making positive connections with young people and their families, as well as with partnering organizations, educators and community members since June of 2017.

Katie is a member of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce LEAD Peninsula Class of 2020 and recently earned her certificate in Fundraising Management for Nonprofits through the Nonprofit Management Institute. PJ Davis—Program Director (Peninsula)

PJ is a graduate of the College of Charleston (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education) and Cambridge College (Master of Education in School Counseling). Although she has lived all across the country as a veteran military spouse of almost 30 years, she calls Hampton Roads home. Her 19 years in Education have been divided between being a classroom science teacher and a middle school counselor, spending most of those years with Newport News Public Schools.

Driven by the essential belief that everyone flourishes through connectedness and belonging, PJ has spent her career sponsoring numerous clubs, mentoring new teachers and counselors, serving in leadership roles within the school, helping to create and direct programs for college-bound and military students, and forging relationships with community members. She is excited to merge her experiences as a science teacher and counselor into her new role as YVCHR’s Director of STEM Programs. She joined YVCHR's staff in August of 2022 to implement the pilot year of our Service Through STEM program in Newport News Public Schools. Connecting students to their communities while inspiring a love for STEM is the perfect combination of PJ’s superpowers!

Christine Fallon—Director of Development

Christine is a graduate of Virginia Tech (Bachelor of Science in Biology) and Northeastern University (Master of Science in Nonprofit Management). Her entire life has been affiliated with the US Navy-she is a Navy brat, veteran and spouse. She was a recipient of the AFCPE Military Spouse Fellowship and became an Accredited Financial Counselor, a designation she used for many years as a volunteer serving military service members and their families.

Christine’s nonprofit career began in crisis response and advocacy. She has also worked in the fields of financial counseling and veteran service. In maintaining relevant and important work experience as a military spouse, moving every few years, Christine has spent much of her professional life as a volunteer, making YVCHR a perfect fit to help the next generation of volunteers learn and develop through community service! She has served in a variety of roles, as a volunteer coordinator, grant writer, financial caseworker, fundraiser, in program evaluation, and more. She’s excited to be a part of the YVCHR team and help grow the organization!

Christine and her husband have 4 children, a ball python, and a leopard gecko. She enjoys traveling, food, fostering neonatal kittens, crafts, and various outdoor mountain activities. She can usually be found driving her mom-taxi all over Hampton Roads.

Fun fact: Christine is a self-taught, semi-pro baker, specializing in decorated sugar cookies!
