Sand Dune Stabilization @ Oceana (VIRGINIA BEACH)

  • Naval Air Station Oceana – Dam Neck Annex Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451 United States (map)

Join the National Aquarium Conservation team to restore and stabilize critical sand dunes in partnership with Naval Air Station Oceana and State Military Reserve. Sand dunes act as natural barriers, protecting land by preventing erosion and absorbing wave energy. Without this protection, soft coastline would rapidly disappear. We need your help to plant native dune grasses and restore habitat for local wildlife while protecting the shoreline

Location: Naval Air Station Oceana – Dam Neck Annex Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451

Details: Youth will work to help to plant native dune grasses and restore habitat for local wildlife while protecting the shoreline.

Youth needed: 10

Special Considerations: Youth will need to complete a transportation waiver, as we will need to drive youth on to the base as a group due to security protocols. There will be a designated drop off/pick up location (TBD) that is close to the base.

Organization being served: National Aquarium Conservation team in partnership with Naval Air Station Oceana and State Military Reserve
