In December of 2020 we held our first Hats from the Heart project. It was an amazing yet challenging experience. We learned a lot and have made adjustments in order to make it an even better experience. So beginning March 8th we will launch our second Hats From the Heart project. This time we will host three virtual meetings and one in-person meeting. Please check to make sure you can attend all the sessions before signing up because each session builds on the one prior.

Why are we doing hats in March? Well, the receiving organization distributes hats twice a year and we would love to get a jump start on making hats so that we have lots to give come Thanksgiving/Christmas. Youth don't need any knitting experience but patience and perseverance will be key. Needles for knitting and yarn will be supplied for those that secure a spot on the roster. Weekly Breakdown:

March 8th - Casting On Two Methods (Virtual)

March 15th - Joining and Knit stitch (Virtual)

March 22nd - Progress Check (In-Person)

March 29th - Finishing off (Virtual)

Required materials: PC, laptop or smartphone with webcam, internet access, hat kit provided by YVCHR.

Youth will need reliable internet access and a webcam in order to participate in the Zoom calls. The Zoom link will be provided via email to those who register for the project using the online form.

For virtual meetings, a couple minutes before 4:00 pm, simply click on the project link from a phone, laptop or PC. If you have never used Zoom, it will ask you to download the software. It will take a couple of minutes, so plan accordingly as we will start promptly at 4:00 pm. Youth will need to enable their webcam AND microphone so they can interact during the call. Be sure to test the audio capabilities prior to the project, and consider using headphones to avoid distractions.
